For fine cuisine and healthy enjoyment: graters and slicers from RÖSLE

When it comes to precision work in the kitchen, graters and slicers from RÖSLE are the perfect kitchen helpers. So that you can prepare crispy fried pancakes from grated zucchinis or serve a delicious raw carrot and apple dish in no time at all. And, of course, to add a subtle hint of freshly grated Parmesan to the house-style pesto.

To ensure that your favorite dishes turn out perfectly, our graters and slicers are equipped with sharp grating teeth or blades so that the ingredients can be chopped precisely. Read below to find out the differences between graters and slicers and what you should look out for to ensure that you can enjoy your new kitchen gadgets for a long time to come.

Precise grating and shredding: stainless steel graters with extra-sharp grating teeth

A kitchen grater can be used to grate and grate vegetables and fruit, spices, cheese or chocolate. The grating surface (plate) of a simple kitchen grater is equipped with grating teeth or blade teeth that enable fine, medium or coarse grating, depending on the texture. Graters with a single plate are easy to handle and can be adjusted to different positions.

You can also find graters on the market whose plate is divided into three zones: the grating surface then has teeth for coarse or fine grating, while in the middle there is usually a so-called cucumber slit, i.e. a transverse blade for slicing.

What appears practical at first glance, however, proves to be rather disadvantageous when working in the kitchen. This is because a good grater should have a run-on and run-off surface above and below the grating teeth, which allows you to grate with ease and without great effort.

If you want your new kitchen grater to have different grating surfaces and a slicing blade, a multifunctional grater will therefore serve you better. This is a multi-sided grater with three or four sides. Each side has a different design so that it can be used for fine and coarse grating and slicing.

Kitchen graters are also classified according to the food they are ideal for, for example as a nutmeg grater or cheese grater. A special feature here is the cheese grinder, which consists of a housing with a crank and pressure lid, into which a grating drum is inserted so that the cheese can be grated effortlessly and without finger contact.

Regardless of the intended use, the material from which the grater is made is of course decisive for its quality. Ideally, the plates and grater teeth are made of stainless and food-safe stainless steel, while the handles are made of stainless steel or a food-safe plastic. A particularly good and long-lasting sharpness is achieved if the grating teeth are etched during production.

Your vegetables will love chopping with them: Slicer for the modern kitchen

The kitchen grater is used to grate and shred food, while a slicer is used to cut it into fine slices, sticks or strips. Like the grater, the kitchen slicer consists of a plate into which one or more elongated blades are integrated. On high-quality models, the cutting thickness can be adjusted using an adjustment wheel or various inserts are available.

A variant of the blades, which are usually integrated horizontally or crosswise, is the V-blade. The name is derived from the arrangement of the two blades, which resembles a V. The advantage: food such as tomatoes or potatoes can be cut particularly quickly and cleanly from both sides.

In addition to the classic vegetable slicer with adjustable blade thickness, models are also available that perform special tasks in the kitchen as julienne slicers, spaetzle slicers or gourmet slicers.

Julienne-style slicing is a cutting technique used to cut vegetables into particularly fine strips. This is done much faster and more evenly with a julienne slicer than with a paring knife. If the julienne slicer can be used with different inserts, you can use it to cut vegetables such as carrots, celery or leek into strips, sticks or slices of different widths.

For smaller vegetables such as mushrooms or spicy truffles, a gourmet slicer is a good choice, as its sharp blade allows you to cut the delicacies into fine slices. When working with the gourmet slicer and the julienne slicer, it is advisable to use a vegetable guard or vegetable holder. All slicers and graters should also have non-slip feet, an ergonomically shaped handle and stainless steel plates.

A spaetzle slicer is of course an absolute must-have in every kitchen, especially in the Allgäu region, where Swabian pasta is still freshly prepared and shaped. The spaetzle slicer consists of a perforated plate and a funnel into which the dough is poured. By moving the funnel back and forth, the spaetzle can be formed to the desired length and quantity directly above the cooking pot. While a dough scraper is good for scraping long and thin spaetzle, a spaetzle slicer with larger holes is ideal for serving the popular “Knöpfle”.

Kitchen gadgets for high demands: graters and slicers from RÖSLE

Graters and slicers from RÖSLE meet the many requirements they have to fulfill to a high degree. The plates, grating teeth and blades are made of corrosion-resistant and easy-care 18/10 stainless steel. The grater teeth are acid-etched, which ensures long-lasting sharpness, while a slight inward inclination of the teeth perfects the smooth cut.

The grating surface (plate) is also concave in shape, which prevents the food from “breaking out” to the right or left when working, but remains on the grating surface.

The long leading and trailing surfaces provide momentum and allow the vegetables to be cut off completely without any leftovers sticking to the half-cut vegetables.

Kitchen graters from RÖSLE are available as fine graters, medium graters and coarse graters with a practical concave shape and as multifunctional graters with an elegant triangular shape. Our nutmeg grater is ideal for finely grinding nutmeg or ginger; cheese and chocolate can be grated effortlessly and hygienically in the cheese grinder.

Our slicers, which are particularly versatile as adjustable vegetable slicers (CLASSIC slicer), V-slicers, julienne slicers, spaetzle slicers or gourmet slicers, also prove to be versatile and reliable in terms of shape, material and blade sharpness. Ergonomically shaped handles, five-way adjustable blade thicknesses and interchangeable inserts for the julienne slicer ensure that work can be carried out quickly and safely.

The sharp blades of the RÖSLE slicer can be easily adjusted to the desired cutting thickness using an adjustment wheel. Silicone feet ensure that the slicers and graters do not slip, and the handles are made of either smooth stainless steel or skin-friendly polypropylene.

With the exception of the cheese grinder and the multifunctional grater, all RÖSLE graters and slicers can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The cheese grinder and multifunctional grater allow the slicing surface or grating insert to be removed and cleaned individually. The CLASSIC series, which includes fine graters, medium graters and coarse graters, also features seamless laser welding to prevent the formation of small “dirt corners”.

The RÖSLE kitchen graters (excluding the cheese grinder), the V-slicer and the julienne slicer all come with a protective cover; the blade of the CLASSIC slicer can be set to a protective zero position after use. You can work even more safely with these sharp kitchen gadgets if you order the matching vegetable holders or leftover holders at the same time. The finger guard is already included with our V-slicers and gourmet slicers.
