Knives and cutters from RÖSLE are like helpful elves that make all kitchen work easier. Unlike the brownies, however, they don't disappear when you watch them at work or use them to prepare your favorite dishes. But what knives and kitchen cutting utensils are there and how do they differ? Perfect basic equipment for the modern kitchen: knives and cutters

“Nothing is eaten as hot as it is cooked” is a well-known saying. We add: And nothing is cooked the way it came into the house. This is why peeling, cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, weighing and slicing are recurring tasks in the kitchen.

How the results turn out depends largely on the quality of the knives and slicers you use. An unsharp knife will cause the braised meat to fray, crush the tomatoes more than it cuts them, or make the cheese too thick or the bread too crooked.

To be able to prepare your favorite ingredients quickly and accurately or get them ready to serve, it's worth checking which knives and cutting tools can make your work in the kitchen easier.

The basic equipment naturally includes a small or large set of sleek kitchen knives, comprising at least a chef's knife or utility knife, a paring knife or peeler, a bread knife and a meat knife. The blades should be made of special knife steel and the ergonomically shaped handles should be made of stainless steel, wood, bamboo or a skin-friendly plastic.

Supplement this basic set of kitchen knives with additional knives or cutters for all tasks that are repeated regularly. For example, a pineapple can be cut into thin slices with a pineapple slicer without the juice spilling all over the chopping board. An apple and pear slicer cuts apples and pears into bite-sized pieces by applying light pressure, while a tomato and mozzarella slicer ensures appetizing slicing.

A pizza cutter or pizza wheel glides through the dough base without squashing the toppings. The cheese knife can be used to cut wafer-thin slices, while a string cutter or ball cutter helps you to decorate or shape your food in an attractive way. If freshly chopped herbs, fruit and vegetables are among your favorite ingredients, a multi-slicer will do a good job of chopping them up.

 

Kitchen knives: quality, storage and care are decisive factors in your choice

You can buy kitchen knives individually or as a set. In any case, pay attention to the intended use and the high quality of the material and shaping. Knives from our BASIC LINE product line are characterized by shiny, high-quality stainless steel. As with all RÖSLE knives, the blades are made from the special steel X50CrMOV15, which gives the kitchen knives corrosion resistance and therefore a long service life.

Our kitchen knives from the TRADITION series feature a classic design and versatility. TRADITION is a good choice for anyone who prefers an easy-to-clean handle made of skin-friendly polyoxymethylene (POM), but does not want to do without the classic rivet look.

To ensure that your knives stay sharp for a long time and that all your work goes smoothly, add the matching chopping boards to your knife set. Chopping boards with a juice groove provide a perfect work surface. When choosing, make sure that they are made from a blade-friendly and food-safe material, as is the case with our wooden or bamboo chopping boards and our polypropylene (PP) cutting boards.

You can also maintain the quality of your knives and blade sharpness by cleaning them by hand and storing them in a knife block. Knife blocks that are open at the bottom, in which the kitchen knives are hung up well protected, prove to be particularly advantageous. However, even the sharpest knife needs to be sharpened from time to time. Cutters and scissors: high-quality finish and useful features determine suitability

The food processors found in many households today are not suitable for cutting fruit and vegetables, cheese and pasta quickly and precisely. Slicers that have been optimized for specific purposes are more space-saving, quieter and more precise to use.

Stainless steel is a good material base to ensure that working with the slicers is hygienic. 18/10 stainless steel, as used for knives and cutters from RÖSLE, is food-safe, odorless and tasteless, easy to clean and gives the kitchen a radiant shine.

In addition to stainless steel, many kitchen cutting utensils can also be made of plastic. Here too, make sure that the materials used do not react with food and are suitable for the intended use due to their properties.

Our pizza wheel, for example, is equipped with an ergonomically shaped handle that is partly made of black POM, which increases robustness and optimum power transmission to the slicer. The blades of our apple and pear slicers are protected by a blade guard made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), a particularly flexible material that is highly resistant to acids. To manufacture our multi-cutter with patented cutting mechanism, we use styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers (SAN), which are extremely strong, scratch-resistant and thermally and chemically resistant.

In addition to material and design, it is the additional features that determine the suitability of a kitchen cutter. This starts with the kitchen shears, whose hardened stainless steel cutting edge should have micro-serrations. With pineapple slicers, it is the harmonious interplay between the cutter and handle that makes it easy to twist in and pull out.

A tomato and mozzarella slicer proves to be the perfect kitchen helper if it comes with a plastic base. And with the cheese knife with stainless steel wires, which allow different types of cheese to be cut cleanly, it is the integrated fork that makes it easier to pick up the cheese slices afterwards.
